The Children's Home in Uummannaq is Greenland's oldest and was founded in 1929 by the Greenlandic Children’s Association. Originally, it was set up as a sanatorium for sick, parentless children and adolescents. They focus on young injured children and adolescents up to 18 years old, as well as disabled children with issues related to negligence during childhood. The home’s mission is to create a home for the children to give them a safe, stable daily life with positive experiences to strengthen their self-esteem and self-worth.

Furthermore help is provided for the children and adolescents by assisting them in understanding their own situation through talking, music therapy, group therapy or through school camps and projects. Through this, they can learn to live with the experiences and traumas in a way that it will allow them to go forwards in life.

A large part of our educational work is built around our colonies and projects i.e. dogsledding, has over many years been the flagship along with projects such as hiking, hunting, fishing, music, art and film.

We do a lot of our work with children and the youth, mixing the new modern society, with the old Greenlandic traditions and values. We do this to provide them with an identity, knowledge of their culture and background as Greenlanders/Inuits and at the same time, teaching them how traditional culture can be implemented in modern life.

At Les Deux, we have a soft heart for especially children that are raised in difficult conditions. So when we heard about this project, we were of course willing to support with what we do best and provide some quality clothing. We are proud to have sponsored this project the people behind it and of course the children.
